About Me

My photo
As a teenager, I subscribed to the notion that one should "retire" (read: celebrate life) in his twenties so he could learn from the world less encumbered by material trappings and only then should he settle in to adulthood. The world may be a more compassionate place. This, I believe, is true luxury. I am now in my forties.

28th Amendment

What should be 28th Amendment be?  This is a question that is being posed on NPR this week.  There were many submissions.  Here are a few I heard:

-Decriminalize all drugs
-Take away corporate personhood
-Give congress term limits
-Stop the revolving door for congress and K Street lobbyist
-Eliminate the gerrymandering of legislative districts
-All citizens have the right to vote
-Re-framing the 2nd amendment (right to bear arms) to the 21st century
-Only publicly funded elections
-Privacy rights regarding the internet
-All bills in congress can only have one topic stated in the title (no earmarks, etc.)

There were more, though I think the most potentially detrimental on a national scale are the issues of corporate personhood and, increasingly, internet privacy.
